A Greensboro police officer is involved in the shooting that took place at a Food Lion on Lawndale Drive in Greensboro on Monday, according to the Greensboro Police Department. Greensboro City Councilmember Zack Matheny was the first to tell FOX8 that it was a shooting that is being investigated. Greensboro police say they got a report about a possible person inside the Food Lion with a handgun at 10:45 a.m. on Monday.

A police officer was involved in a shooting inside a grocery store in Greensboro Monday morning, according to the Greensboro Police Department. The shooting happened at the Food Lion on Lawndale Drive, between Cottage Place and the Greensboro Urban Loop. police said.

Greensboro police posted about the shooting on Facebook at 12:44 p.m., but gave very few details. Police say they plan to give more informaion on what happened at a news conference planned for 3 p.m. Monday. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is released

The Greensboro Police Department said a shooting involved a police officer inside the Food Lion. Ramona Miller said she had just checked out and was buying a lottery ticket when she heard a “pop, pop” sound. “The employees yelled, ‘Shooting, get out,'” she said while speaking over the phone with WXII. Very limited details were available. It was unclear whether a police officer or a citizen fired the shots or if anyone was injured.
